Campaign introduction
Aaniin, Boujo, and Peace to you.
My name is Knia Singh, and I am your Candidate for Mayor in the upcoming June 26th by-election election.
Many of you are frustrated with the current state of affairs, and so am I. Together we can change the course of this city for the better.
It is a simple as saying I am voting for Knia Singh to be our next Mayor of Toronto.
WHAT IS THE ROLE OF MAYOR?
Pursuant to the City of Toronto Act, the role of City Council is to represent the public, consider the well-being of the City; develop policies and programs; determine which services the City provides; and to ensure accountability and transparency of the operations of the City;
The role of Mayor as the head of council and CEO is to preside over meetings of council;
provide leadership; represent the City at official functions; promote public involvement in the City’s activities; promote the City locally, nationally and internationally; and foster activities that enhance the economic, social and environmental well-being of the City and its residents.
As an experienced father, lawyer, entrepreneur, philanthropist, musician, academic, and
cultivator of positive activities, I believe my life experiences place me in a unique position to
connect with the residents of Toronto and bridge the gaps that remain due to the
historical disconnect between the various classes of people that live in Toronto.
WHY?
A vote for Knia Singh is a vote for positive change, it is a vote for a new approach and fresh perspective, it is a vote for sincere governance.
No more empty promises and million-dollar projects that take years to complete.
A vote for Knia is a vote against the establishment, and in favour of fiscal responsibility, financial efficiencies, and economic development.
Our elderly, our marginalized and our disenfranchised have all been waiting for a time where common dense and practicality prevail.
WHAT DO WE NEED?
Our city needs a Mayor who can connect with all walks of life and represent the wide range of residents that make up our diverse world class city.
WHAT DO WE HAVE?
We have professionals, tradesmen, entrepreneurs, actors, dancers, artists, academics, labourers, philanthropists, students and more, that make Toronto one of the best places to live in the world.
But we also have homelessness, poverty, corruption, violence, despair, racism, and poor
health that leads to a poor quality of life for many.
In a city with so much to offer there should be minimal division between those who have and those who have not.
The class division is growing, and as a city we must decide if we are going to continue to
choose profit over people? Or are we going to use our resources, talents and ingenuity
to balance society so everyone can have a chance to live a happy healthy life, regardless of
what stage they are at.
I acknowledge, not everyone is in a position to buy a home today, and some people face
serious challenges in their personal lives that create barriers to education, housing, health,
employment and other important life objectives.
But there is no reason we cannot shift our goals as a City and prioritize quality of life as the
primary objective for Toronto.
HOW DO WE GET THERE?
There is a way to meet both the city’s needs and the needs of the residents simultaneously, it doesn’t have to be one over the other.
If you want Toronto to be represented by someone who is relatable, someone who is not afraid to challenge the status quo, and someone who is practical and willing to pursue economic growth while prioritizing people over profits, then vote for me Knia Singh.
There are many things in life beyond our control, but what we can control is the outcome of this election and control the environment in which this all takes place.
With city resources, and the hard-working people of Toronto, we can envision a city that does not have a multi-year waiting list for affordable housing, disproportionate violence and crime, and significant increases in mental health crisis and addictions.
Toronto is world class city, that should be taking advantage of global opportunities, with critical thinking and outside the box approaches, we should be able to achieve minimal unemployment and homelessness considering the enormous resources we have at our disposal.
We must adhere to the standard we have set as a city through our codes of conduct, and
ensure all residents are treated fairly as we continue to develop this city in a way that will
benefit all.
CONCLUSION
There are many ideas I will share in the coming weeks, but what I want you to know now is that there is a Mayoral candidate who sees the world for what it is. A world where if you are not informed you can be left behind, a world that has less and less empathy for the misfortunate, and a world that is valuing greed and self-advancement over communal co-operation and growth.
No one is greater than or less than because of how much wealth they possess, but there is
definitely a difference in how people are heard, treated and valued based on their wealth.
I seek to be the representative of our city as someone who has lived through various stages of life experience, and who can relate and identify with the needs of all people, from those trying to find their next meal, to those looking to invest in an economic venture.
The life experience I bring to the table has taught and conditioned me to see through the
obstacles of division and focus on unity.
Let’s “Unite for What’s Right” and elect me, Knia Singh as our new Mayor of Toronto.
Sincerely,
Knia Singh

In 2015, Knia Singh was invited to be a member of the Toronto Police PACER Committee (Police And Community Engagement Review) dedicated to improving relationships and practices between the Police and the community.
Knia is currently the Co-Chair of the Know Your Rights Committee and is shares critical information in this informational video for the public. In 2018, Knia Singh ran for Mayor OF TORONTO and discussed the importance of voting and how it affects everyone involved whether they vote or not.
